The Best Travel Purse for Stylish Girl

Anyone who travels a lot knows too well the importance of finding a good travel purse. When you’re exploring new places, it’s necessary to have your valuables in a location and close to you at all times. To help you find the best travel purse, I’m listing down five of my all-time favorites.

Having a Travel Purse is Importance

When packing for trips, we usually focus on finding a sturdy backpack or suitcase and making sure that we could fit all the things we need in it. What we often neglect, however, is our travel purse or carry-on luggage.

While finding a high-quality backpack or suitcase is certainly important, the thing is we don’t usually carry our luggage while exploring. Instead, we would often put our travel documents, cash, phone, and other valuables in a smaller bag or a travel purse.

That said, it is necessary to have a travel purse spacious enough for all your valuables but, at the same time, sturdy enough for regular use. Of course, style and design are also plus factors.

Elements of a Great Travel Purse

When shopping for a travel purse, there are a couple of things you should keep in mind. In particular, you should look for a travel purse that fits the following descriptions:

Durable

While you’d most likely be leaving your backpack or suitcase in your hotel room, you’d be carrying your travel purse wherever you go. As such, you have to make sure that your travel purse is well-built and made from sturdy materials

Durability is of particular importance if you carry around bulky items, such as SLR cameras, water bottles, and electronic gadgets. If you're going to the beach or any place during the rainy season, you would also want to make sure that your travel purse is waterproof.

Secure

Let’s face it, not all popular tourist destinations are 100% safe and crime-free. This is why it is for tourists and travelers to keep close watch of their belongings and make sure that they don’t lose anything.

If you don’t want to fall victim to pickpockets during your travels, it is advisable to use a travel purse that has a couple of security features like padded walls and zippered compartments.

As much as possible, you want a bag that has several pockets where you can keep your valuables separately, making them harder to find and steal.

Spacious

Elements of a Great Travel Purse

The size of your travel bag will depend on how many things you carry with you when you travel. As a rule of thumb, it should be spacious enough to contain all your valuables, but not too big as to make it difficult for you to find the things you need.

Comfortable

People often neglect the importance of comfort when choosing a travel purse, but trust me, it makes all the difference.

Since you would be carrying your travel purse with you for most of the day, you want to choose something with a comfortable design, preferably one with adjustable straps and specifically built to be carried around the whole day, especially if you're carrying bulky items with you.

Purses To Avoid

Before I give you a run-down of my favorite travel bags, I'll talk first about the purses you should avoid bringing on your travels.

In general, you would want to avoid bags that are see-through, as well as those made of flimsy materials. You would also want to shy away from bags with no zippers or secure clasps as they are incredibly easy to open.

Given the preceding, on top of the list of bags you should not use for your travels is the drawstring bag, which is pretty much the pickpocket's best friend. For one, they are usually backpacks, making it a very easy target for thieves. Also, they can easily be opened with a gentle downward pull.

Purses To Avoid

Also, an easy target for pickpockets is the flap purse, especially the ones without magnetic closures. Since this type of purse usually only has one compartment, all a thief needs to do is to lift the flap and pull out owner's wallet or any other valuable.

For the ladies, shoulder bags might seem like a prudent choice considering that you hold it close to your body at all times, but note that carrying shoulder bags has its flaws. For one, it is incredibly easy to slit a hole at the back or bottom of the bag and to empty its contents through that hole.

Secondly, shoulder bags usually have small outer compartments used for keeping mobile phones, credit cards or wallets. While these compartments make things accessible to the owner, they also make the same accessible to thieves and pickpockets.

Also, since shoulder bags are usually bulky, it is not uncommon to put them down in restaurants or shopping malls, especially if you are eating or trying out items. Once the shoulder bag is out of your hand, a thief can just walk by and pick it up.

Winner of This Roundup

I usually use these travel purses interchangeably, depending on where I’m going and on how much I intend to carry with me. But if I have to choose just one travel purse, it would be the Travelon Anti-Theft Cross-Body Bag.

Overall, the Travelon Anti-Theft Cross-Body Bag is durable, secure, and spacious enough for all the things I need during my travels.
